Much like the West Branch, this tailwater get its water from the Pepacton Reservoir. This water system is separated into two sections. The upper and the lower. The upper section is a complex water system with limited boat access. It’s not likely many people get to float this section because they restrict the water being released and the technicality of rowing it. Most people wade the upper section but it has limited access.
The lower section is where the upper section joins the Beaver Kill River. This is a long section with a lot of areas that require rowing between riffles. Similar to the West Branch, this water system can have some of the east coast’s greatest hatch’s.
Water Level Recommendations (Lower East)
| Water Level (CFS) | Wading | Float |
| 0750 – 1500 | 1000 or below is kind of the key number for access | Would not recommend below 1000, you’ll lose some paint |
| 1500 – 2000 | Wading can be challenging or restrict where you can fish | Good for various techniques |
| 2000 – 2500 | You’ll have access to slow or shallow water | Streamers become a little more popular on days with this flow |
| 2500 – 3000 | Limited access to shore | Experienced rowers and fishermen recommended |
| 3000 – 3500 | Little or no access | Experienced rowers and fishermen recommended |
